Mambo-1954-black and white-Dino De Laurentiis co-produced this ahead-of-its-time romantic drama about a poor but beautiful Venetian woman, Giovanna Masetti. She dreams of escaping her drab life and becoming a dancer. She soon gets her chance when she is discovered by Toni Salerno, played by Shelley Winters. Also her beauty does not go unnoticed by rich and dashing Enrico Marisoni, played by Michael Rennie, of The Day The Earth Stood Still fame. Enrico makes his move on Giovanna at a fabulous Venetian costume ball. But Giovanna is torn between her old boyfriend Mario and Enrico. The 2 men compete for Giovanna's attention. However Mario learns of Enrico's one weakness, one that if exploited correctly could guarantee Giovanna's love and Enrico's wealth. Girl of My Dreams-1934-black and white-This light comedy musical features a young Lon Chaney Jr. as a college athlete locking horns with conceited track star Larry Haines. This happens because fellow students Spec, played by Sterling Holloway who voiced Winnie the Pooh, and Bobby, played by Authur Lake who went on to play Dagwood Bumstead, rigged the results of a popularity contest. Will this prank lead to love breakups and losing the college athletics meet?
